Rekall: Making MySQL look like Access

I’m jealous of how easy it is to develop robust applications in Access, and annoyed at how difficult it is to access (ha!) the databases created by Access with external tools (like Python).

Rekall is (according to the marketing) as easy to use as Access, but has the added bonuses of a) running on Linux or Windows, and b) using a *SQL database for the backend. Plus, it uses Python as an internal scripting language.

They just recently went GPL, so I’m looking to download it in the near future. I’d love to create a CRM for chicagoimprov.org, or a server database for work. Both applications are perfect for Access, but I’ve always been hesitant because of the proprietary feel of the product. Rekall might be a real savior.
