Computer People, meet Improv People
I helped to start a Chicago improv message board a few years ago. The board, like lots of message boards (improv and otherwise) has had a pretty turbulent history. A lot of the stuff we built over time has gone away through multiple hand changes, and some of my own misguided tinkering. The current board is at http://chicagoimprov.org
Yesterday, in a huff, I flipped the switch on http://bees.lonelylion.com. An installation of Vanilla, a AJAXy, PHP based message board with “tags.” It’s pretty snazzy looking, clearly has Web 2.0 smeared all over it, and is all about bees.
There’s some not-so-noble goals behind the board (sticking it to the squares), but also an interesting side experiment cooking which I just thought of…what happens when you dozen or so people that read this blog find out that you can talk to genuine Chicago improvisers on this silly bee site?
Will chaos erupt? Will the server room floor tiles melt? Will cubicle walls all across Chicagoland simultaneously collapse under the awesome power of computer nerds talking to improv nerds?
Let the experiment begin. If you’ve made it this far, please go to http://bees.lonelylion.com and start talking honey.
