I wonder if the goal of federated backpacks could be bootstrapped off of and help create momentum for existing efforts to federate the social web.

The IndieWeb community comes to mind as a potentially valuable engagement. They have an upcoming unconference next month in Portland. Perhaps there might be interest in an OpenBadges session: http://indiewebcamp.com/Main_Page

Tantek is one of the co-organizers, so definitely connect with him to figure the dilly on that front. (And here's a pretty cool post he made recently: http://tantek.com/2013/113/b1/first-federated-indieweb-comment-thread)

I can't help but think that there is a high impact opportunity here to work with the Persona PiCL team on creating federated identity infrastructure with OpenBadges as the experimental test case, but it's probably a bit early for that discussion.. (unless it's not!)

I have recently opened a tracker for requesting/offering Mozilla/web-related courses: https://github.com/Yoric/Mozilla-Courses/issues .

For the moment, this tracker has been used mostly by the French-speaking community, but please do not hesitate to add your own courses/course requests, regardless of the language.

[...] Since then we met with Mozilla teams to discuss the issues in detail - they were really open to feedback and in most cases were already looking at solutions which will have a big impact. These include auto-validating Persona accounts from selected providers and being able to easily share individual badges rather than groups. [...]
